Rope as a Language
Part 3 - 06.03.2027
Ease, Discomfort & Agency
Connective Shibari is a three-part series for people who already have a Shibari 101 foundation and want to deepen their practice beyond learning individual ties.
Curated with queer people in mind, the series explores rope as a practice of connection, communication, expression and agency. Rather than focusing on collecting techniques, we will use rope as a tool for listening, responding, creating tension, expressing intention and exploring different ways of relating to one another.
Across the three workshops, we will move from connection, to expression, to embodied agency.
Each workshop combines technical practice, partner exercises, discussion, creative exploration and guided scenes. Safety, negotiation, consent, risk awareness and accommodation are woven throughout the series.
Saturday 9/01/2027 (14h30-17h30)
Connective Shibari I: Listening Through Rope
We begin with connection: tension, touch, spatial awareness and responsiveness. Through simple structures and creative exercises, we explore how much can be communicated with very little rope.
Saturday 06/02/2027 (14:30-17:30)
Connective Shibari II: Rope as a Language
We look at rope as a form of expression. Minimal or maximal, organised or chaotic, fast or slow, soft or intense, we explore how rhythm, tension, structure and intention change what our rope communicates.
Saturday 06/03/2027 (14:30-17:30)
Connective Shibari III: Ease, Discomfort & Agency
We move into the relationship between structure and sensation. Working with a range of familiar harnesses and ties, we explore finding ease, intentionally inviting challenge, communicating changing sensations, and letting go of the need for technical perfection while staying connected and safe.
