Documenting queer history in Luxembourg
Rosa Lëtzebuerg asbl, the oldest LGBTIQ+ organisation in the country, has a mission to document and preserve the contemporary history of the queer community in the Grand Duchy.
This work includes the creation of an archive, consisting of collections, donations from members, and documents gathered by the association itself. These resources are intended to be accessible to the queer community, as well as to researchers and students.
Our mission also includes preserving and promoting these archives in order to pass on this memory to future generations and raise awareness in society of the rich history of LGBTIQ+ people in Luxembourg.
Loans and donations of funds and legacies
An archive lives only through its documents. In order to preserve the memory of the queer community in Luxembourg, Rosa Lëtzebuerg asbl is committed to building a collection that is as rich and representative as possible. In addition to documenting current events, our work also draws on testimonies and documents from previous years.
We gratefully accept loans and donations of objects and documents related to LGBTIQ+ life, whether from personal collections, estates or private collections. These contributions ensure long-term preservation and enable in-depth scientific research into LGBTIQ+ history.
The materials sought include, in particular:
photographs and correspondence,
newspapers, press articles and publications,
posters, flyers, brochures and communication documents,
diaries or personal accounts,
various private archives.
Each loan or donation is recorded on an official form, ensuring clarity of ownership rights and respect for the rights of the persons mentioned.
