Since 1999 – back then under the name GayMat – Luxembourg Pride has stood for visibility, solidarity and a resolute commitment to the rights of LGBTIQ+ people in Luxembourg. What began as a dedicated initiative has, over the years, developed into a key socio-cultural and political event on the calendar in Luxembourg and beyond, across the Greater Region. Luxembourg Pride is both a safe space and an invitation to society as a whole to discover the colourful diversity of living together.
Since 2010, Luxembourg Pride has taken place in Esch-sur-Alzette, where it has grown over the years. In close collaboration with local partners, a strong, vibrant and reliable platform for exchange, engagement and social dialogue has emerged there. The city has played a key role in shaping the development of Pride and has provided the space for it to flourish in the long term.
From 2026, Luxembourg Pride will take place in a new format: alternating annually between Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg City. This decision was taken jointly by Rosa Lëtzebuerg, Luxembourg Pride and the two cities.
The alternating model takes account of the growing significance of Pride. It combines regional roots with national visibility and lays the foundation for the continued development of the Pride movement. The aim is to further expand its reach and social impact whilst incorporating the growing strength of both locations, all for the benefit of queer people in Luxembourg.
In 2026, Luxembourg Pride will take place in Luxembourg City again on 10 and 11 July. This expands the scope of the event without relinquishing its deep-rooted connection to Esch-sur-Alzette. Esch remains a key partner, whose significant contribution to the development of Pride is expressly acknowledged.
Rosa Lëtzebuerg and Luxembourg Pride thank both cities for their trust, support and constructive cooperation. Together, all partners reaffirm their commitment to continuing Luxembourg Pride as a nationwide forum for encounter, dialogue and engagement.
Luxembourg Pride will thus continue to stand for cohesion, solidarity and a shared commitment to equality and human rights in Luxembourg.
